Ausrocks, established in 1995, is a company specialising in consulting to a wide variety of Quarrying and Small Mining operations. Capabilities include mining engineering, health & safety, and environmental management with detailed capabilities listed on the corresponding pages of this website. For additional requirements outside our normal capabilities we rely on a close group of Associates who are engaged to fulfil specialist work. Ausrocks focus’ on providing a wealth of experience to Australian and select international quarries and small mines. Australian owned, the company operates from Virginia, approximately 20 minutes north of Brisbane.


Alan Robertson founded the company while drawing from over 30 years of experience in the Mining, Quarrying and Tunnelling industries Consulting for Tennent Isokangas, Coffey Mining and AVKO Mining. Ausrocks began full time consulting in 2010 with three staff and began to make their mark on the local quarry industry. In 2016 Senior Mining Engineer Carl Morandy became Managing Director and continues to build the business. In 2021, Ausrocks has grown to 6 staff and Alan continues to provide valuable mentoring and project support in a part-time role. 


In addition to Carl, the Ausrocks team consists of Mining Engineer Faraz Ferdosian, Senior Associate Geologist Brice Mutton, Environmental Consultant Roxanne Moles, Safety and Technical Officer Nick Virisheff and Administration Officer Emily Morandy.


Ausrocks is a long-time supporter of the Institute of Quarrying Australia contributing as a Committee Member for the Brisbane Branch and sponsor of the Young Members Network. Ausrocks also holds close ties to the University of Queensland’s School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering as well as the School of Civil Engineering, and regularly employs students from the university to help them gain much needed work experience and industry exposure.
